Paul N. Tranel, a partner with Bohyer, Erickson, Beaduette & Tranel, P.C., successfully defended a personal injury case involving a motor vehicle accident at an uncontrolled intersection.
The defendant was cited for DUI at the accident scene. Plaintiff's primary argument in placing liability on Defendant was that he was DUI, and his guilty plea is an admission he was impaired. Defense counsel argued that Plaintiff was comparatively negligent.
As a result of the accident, Plaintiff claimed injuries to her mid back, low back and right knee. She sought damages for her past and future medical expenses; past lost earnings; property damage; and pain and suffering.
The case was sent to the jury on June 27, 2012. The jury deliberated for approximately 45 minutes before returning a verdict for the defense.
